Struggling Red Devils
Indeed Fletcher is no where near the same Fletcher from last season, no
question about that. It seems that he's even playing worse than Carrick.
However, the problem with the team's continued poor away performance
lies far beyond Fletcher or the central midfield. Even if a world class
player like Sneijder comes in, how would he change the poor form of
Rooney or Nani's inability to show up at times? The problem is that
there's no coherence with the teams play and the team looks too
unorganised for a champion’s team. It seems as if there is no
understanding between the players. It has occurred all too often where
the runner would go one direction and the pass goes the other - this is
the general pattern of play this season. It begs the question “What the
hell do they do in training?”
Rooney is roaming around the pitch
like a headless chicken at times and his first touch is generally poor.
Yes Nani is capable of doing the magic against the weaker teams but
against stronger teams, 4-4-2 just isn't his formation. Ronaldo all too
often struggled like Nani in 4-4-2, which led to us switching to a 4-3-3
and that's when the magic happened. We are now having the same problem.
Remember the Arsenal game last season? That fast counter-attacking
football by Nani and Rooney was breathtaking to watch and this was all
because we had a clear pattern that we would use 4-4-2 at home and 4-3-3
away (obviously this would change depending on the quality of the
opponent).
I strongly believe that SAF should start realising
the absolute need to play 4-3-3 or we are going to continue with this
poor away form for the rest of the season. Yes, Berbatov is a talent
who's hard to bench but are we going to sacrifice points for him?
Lastly, in a 4-4-2, our attack is way too slow & predictable, which
makes it easy to defend against us.

Re: Struggling Red Devils
I see your point about the formation but I honestly believe whatever formation SAF puts out; from the players at his disposal, Utd will at times struggle.
I agree about Fletcher and cannot understand his poor form. Who can forgot his poor performances years ago which led to Roy Keane openly criticising him. Yet and fair play to the lad, he turned it around and was simply outstanding last season.
I believe a clear out of midfield is required. Scholes while a legend needs to retire. Hargreaves should be pensioned off. Gibson should be given away and Carrick and Anderson given a damn good thrashing by SAF. A new creative CM is urgently required as well as a new LW. Pogba and Cleverly urgently need some matches in the first team as well as some other young CM's from the reserves and youth team.

I think on their day Chelsea can be troublesome but we should play Obertan to negate the threat of the Torres

Re: Struggling Red Devils
Fletcher has been played by SAF in a more creative role in this season because we dont have one if Scholes is not playing.
He is more of a destructive midfielder and his form has suffered.
We need a top class creative midfielder with Fletch alongside him.
Fletcher is Man U through and through but the managers is doing him no favours by playing him out of position.
